Hanover Research is actively recruiting for a Public Relations and Social Media Specialist to work in a tight-knit, nimble, and dynamic Corporate Communications team. The role will work closely with the Managing Director and Director of Corporate Communications to help grow and expand Hanover’s public image through media relations and social media. This is a great role for someone with solid entry-level PR experience who is looking to play an integral role in building a PR and social media strategy from the ground up.
  • Under the direction of the Director, implement Hanover’s media relations strategy including identifying media opportunities, conducting weekly pitching to secure placements in top tier trade and business media outlets, coordinating interview opportunities, and cultivating strong media relationships.
  • Assist with the creation of communications materials including press releases, media pitches, talking points, media briefings, bylined articles, and blog posts.
  • Under the direction of the Director, implement the day-to-day Hanover social media initiatives including drafting content, managing platforms, driving engagement, and providing analytics.
  • Support the construction, reinforcement and protection of Hanover’s brand.
  • Identify gaps in the news cycle where Hanover’s unique point of view will be of value.
  • Keep the team organized with regular maintenance and updates of media databases.
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal cross-functional partners to develop on-point deliverables that represent Hanover’s brand in the marketplace.
  • Partner with graphic design to create content assets for use in PR and social media activities.

  • Previous experience with media pitching and working with the press required.
  • Excellent writing skills that require little to no editing.
  • A passion for external relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to portray complex concepts cleanly and simply.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage corporate social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure media coverage for business-to-business companies.
  • Robust project management skills and ability to manage against tight deadlines.
  • Works well in a team environment and enjoys supporting peers.
  • Strong sense of service leadership – committed to helping the department and Hanover as a whole succeed.
  • An ear for the voice of the customer and an interest in channeling customer needs in framing all of Hanover’s communications.
  • Positive attitude that embraces feedback and seeks continual improvement.
  • Proactive problem solving that sees hidden potential and opportunities in challenges.
  • Self-starter who can comfortably handle some degree of ambiguity.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Cision, HubSpot, Wordpress, and Salesforce a plus.
Minimum Education Required:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English, or related fields.
Minimum Experience:
2-3 years of relevant agency or in-house experience in public relations or corporate communications.
